LAN (Local Area Network) for family and small business In a family, kids use their own PC, Dad and Mon will use their 2nd PC in addition to a PC for business. A local area network is the best way, especially wireless network will work well. Desk top PC? Don't worry about it. Invest just $30-$50 for wireless card and install it. And a desk top PC becomes wireless PC like a laptop PC. But, it can not be moved in a house. Dad took a video for kid's birthday party and saved it into his PC. Kids want to see it? No copy is necessary, just open a file in a PC of dad. Kids can enjoy it. Dad doesn't need to worry about to be seen important documents in his PC. Everything will be blocked except a sharing file. If you live in a mansion, how do you call each person in the house for a dinner? Using telephone? inter-phone? house keeper or cry lauderly ? Using the LAN you can send a message or e-mail to each person comes down to a living room or a dining room. 1. Web camera set up for video chat and 2. Streaming broadcast 1. A web camera is $30-$50 or more depends on a quality of video image. The latest PC has been installed a web camera in it. It's not just for laptops. A desk top also can use a web camera with USB connector. Using the web camera, you can talk with your family a way from home for business or duties just like to use video telephone. The video telephone is not familier yet, but video chat can be used as video telephone. A chat is a play, but the system can be used for a serious business too. Still it not like a telephone. To use a video chat, you have to turn PC on all the time. But it's not yet enough, your partner on the other side must keep PC switch on. That's a difference from the telephone system. How fantastic IT technology these days is. Home web-server set up We use a web server of ISP (Ineternet Service Provider) and use (see or search) internet web sites. You have one's web site for hobby or business or both. The most of the web sites are located in the server of ISP. So, we have to do work so called "Up Load" to the server. When you changed contens of your web site, you have to up load those files to the server. It doesn't take time, if you use cable-TV line or DSL and so on. If you use 56K telephone line (still?), sometimes it takes hours depends on the size of files. But, if your PC has been set up as a personla web server, you don't need up load after you changed the files. When you changed it, it the time for people to watch it. How much you have to pay for it? All most nothing. A software to make your PC a server is free of charge. You will ask "If so, why every people doesn't do it?" Probably, even if we have our own server, still we have to pay some money to ISP to connect to the Internet. The cost to have a space or room for one's web site in ISP's server, it's not much. That's the main reason. An ISP or web hosting company gives you a space for your web site will be between 500Mb and 1Gb. To get more space, you have to pay extra charge for it. But, if your PC is a server, the space is unlimited depends of your HDD capacity. Large size Video Advertisement on web site These days, web site advertisement is growing up and TV commercial is reducing. Because, the TV commercial is too expensive and it's very local. If you sell something special or you need something not in local market, the internet helps you for both on local and the global markets without any cost differences. To do advertisement, an all-in-one video will be enough. If you think more serious business, separate commercial for each item will be very effective than all in one. The web hosting company doesn't make any video commercial. Even they say they do it, but they use subcontractors to make it. Whatever it is, if it's sprit, the cost will be higher when combined. But, we do both web commercial launch and making video commercial. So, the cost will be minimum and save you lots of money. We are not asking you switch web site hosting company. But if you are goint to launch video commercials on the net, it's our business. We can make it and launch it for you on our server. You just set up a link to our server. That's it. We offer you as low as $59.00 per hour service charge to set up. (for Windows XP users only) Usually, a technical labor charge to repair or install parts into a PC costs $70-$85 per hour at a PC shop. A plumber comes to a house to repair sink or bath room drain system costs $90-$110 for the first one hour. Sometimes it takes only 10 minutes to fix, but the minimum charge will remain as is. $90 for 10 minutes? It's for a traffic. These works are usually easy jobs. It doesn't take more than two hours. A hardware installation is quick and easy. But, to make a new stuff with installation software is always tough. It's just like a physical sickness and mental sickness. A physical problem can be seen and be fixed immediately, but mental is not. If unexprerienced people try to do these services (set ups), it takes hours, sometimes they need days to finish it (tens of hours.) Because, it's not so easy as "download and run to install." If it is so easy, everybody should have it all today. LAN In our experience, to make LAN in a house with 3-4 PCs will take average time 2-3 hours. It depends on how many PCs has wireless connections or how many PCs need to install hardware (wireless card) or not, what kind of router is being used and should be replaced or not, etc. etc. All PCs must be configured after wireless or wired set (hook) up. Web camera Web camera install (hook up) and set up install software will take another 1-3 hours. If everything goes fine, it will be finished 1-2 hours. A test run and explanation how to use it must be well explained to customer. Even this test run and explanation will usually take half an hour. Home Web Server set up will take another 2-3 hours. Software instllation and test run will be finished within one hour. 1. New Domain or Current Domain? The most of the cases to do this, customer will have to get (register) a new domain name. This costs usually $10 or so for next one year registration. But, a transfer of current domain name from a web hosting company is not so easy and quick. Just pay $10 for a new domain name is easier and faster way to do. In this case, you can run your server when you need it regardless your business web site is on the net 24 hours a day with web hosting company. It's up to you. If you transfer current domain from web hosting company to your PC, you can save the web hosting cost (usually $10 for a month.) 2. ISP If your ISP is blocking ports (80 and 25 etc.) in their server, people on the internet can't come into your PC. You have to ask ISP to open the ports. In this case, some ISPs request money about $10 for a month, saying "To do so, you have to get an additonal service including to open the ports and another bra bra bra........" So, you will have to pay $10 every month for it. Some ISPs don't ask this fee. If you will transfer your domain to your server, you will be able to save the money. Remember, the transfer is not done instantly as a new domain registration. The time to do this all of it will be 4-6 hours job. Compared with PC hardware installation (you have to bring your PC there) and a plumbing service, the above charge is very reasonable. After set up (installation) the system into your PC, it will worth more than expenses. *The cost for a web camera, a router or extra cables or parts (if needed) or fees that will be charged by another party such as web hosting company (if any) or ISP are not included in our service charge.
